The Ntuli Foundation is a public-benefit cultural and educational institution dedicated to African Indigenous Knowledge Systems (AIKS).

Our work spans art, heritage, research, education, and community engagement.

We exist to ensure that African philosophical, artistic, and spiritual knowledge is a living, generative force for present and future generations. Everything we do is guided by UBuSusu (Ubuntu × Sumud × Sunsum) - a triadic philosophy that reframes education as remembering and positions artistic expression as a method of research, pedagogy, and social transformation.

OUR STRATEGIC OBJECTIVES

•Promote artistic and cultural heritage as living knowledge

•Preserve documents and promote artistic and cultural heritage as living knowledge

• Leverage digital technologies to expand access to heritage and learning

OUR PROGRAMME

Our work is organised across four areas of activity, developed in response to what the Foundation's work demands at any given time.

EDUCATION AND COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT

Education sits at the centre of our work. Our programmes include research workshops across South Africa, Zimbabwe, Ghana, and Tunisia, as well as fellowships, mentorship, object-based learning, short courses, university seminars, and open-access digital resources.

OUR GLOBAL ALIGNMENT

Our work aligns with UNESCO priorities, the African Union's Agenda 2063, and global frameworks for protecting intangible cultural heritage and advancing more equitable Knowledge systems.
