Studio Practice

Studio Practice advances artistic creation, mentorship, and intergenerational making. Rooted in the philosophy of UBuSuSu, the studio is the heart of the Ntuli Foundation — a place where lineage becomes living knowledge, where memory is held, and where younger generations encounter the practice of their elders first hand.

Where lineage becomes living knowledge

Housed in Johannesburg, the studio holds sculptures, paintings, tools, and documents that trace decades of African artistic life. It is at once a working space for the making of new work, a repository of Professor Pitika Ntuli’s body of work in bone, bronze, metal, stone, wood, and found objects, and a meeting place where elders, artists, scholars, and apprentices gather to think, make, and remember together.
